Dating back to the time of the Buddha, there has existed an interdependence between those who offer the Buddhist teachings and those who receive them.
Dāna is the Buddhist word for generosity. It is both a core Buddhist practice, and a tradition that has supported the teaching of the Dharma for over 2,600 years.
SFIDC teachers offer sitting groups, daylongs and classes freely. Our events usually employ a suggested sliding scale where no one is turned away due to lack of funds.
We rely on the generosity of community members to support these teachings, enabling our teachers to continue to offer the Dharma and keep the tradition alive.
